Apex in the Community: Fall Update
Thanksgiving and Giving Tuesday are upon us, and what better time to reflect on what we're thankful for in our communities? The Apex team has been lucky to have had ample opportunities to volunteer, fund-raise, and get involved in our local civic organizations and boards this year. Through Apex in Action, the program we created to help our team support the causes they believe in, we've already contributed more than one thousand volunteer hours -- and the Washington Business Journal recently ranked us among the most philanthropic companies in the D.C. Metro area by volunteer hours! Let's take a look at some of this highlights of our involvement in the past few months:
Light the Night Walk: $12,104 Raised!
Apex's team led by Senior Mortgage Bankers Larry Finkelberg and Jeff Modeski blew past their fundraising goal of $10,000 this October, instead raising more than $12,000 to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at their Light the Night Walk. The mission of the evening was to, "bring light to the darkness of cancer," and in keeping with that objective, the night was filled with colorful lanterns, a spirit of unity, and the resolve to have a little fun.
Apex Goes Pink!
The Apex team donned pink on October 18th in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, collecting donations for the Breast Cancer Research foundation and spreading word about the cause on social media. We're not too shy to say our team was rather pretty in pink!
Drives that Deliver Joy & Nutrition
Our candy drive for Operation Gratitude is a wrap! You helped to fill our offices with nearly 200 lbs of sweets! Thanks to your generous contributions, our troops overseas will have ample sweets to life their spirits in the coming weeks.
In addition to our candy drive, we're also hard at work creating snack packs for Women Who Care Ministries' Weekend Snack Pack Prep program! Bi-weekly, our team gathers to participate in the Helping Kids Eat Backpack Weekend Meal Program™. This is a free program to both the school and the students who partake in it which delivers nutritious, ready to eat food to students who may need it over the weekend.
What Lies Ahead?
The Apex team is looking forward to both our coat drive for One Warm Coat this winter, as well as our Thanksgiving Food drive and family adoption through the City of Rockville and A Wider Circle. We'll keep you posted!
