Apex in Action Habitat for Humanity Women Build

Apex In Action Habitat For Humanity Build

Apex has a huge drive for community outreach and helping the community for a better tomorrow. Which is why we introduced Apex in Action in 2011. This internal program is structured to support the organizations and causes our employees value by providing opportunities for volunteering and giving. Our mission for Apex in Action is to help others feel at home in their communities. We do this by combatting poverty and inequality, improving education, increasing local opportunity, and making a difference in the communities where we live and work.

Our last Apex in Action initiative was a huge success! We partnered with Habitat for Humanity for their 2021 Women Build event. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that helps people in your community and around the world build or improve the place they call home. Affordable housing is a critical role in a strong and stable community for both Habitat for Humanity and Apex. Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build events provide the opportunity for women to take a proactive step serving their community. These opportunities are available across the United States. Volunteers work under the guidance of construction professionals, and other volunteers, to help build a home for those in need.

Kristian Anderson, Mortgage Relationship Planner in our Corporate office, formed her own team called Kristian’s Builder Babes. This was her third year taking part in the Women Build. Kristian says:

“I am passionate about homeownership and lifting others up. This year we worked on a home for a first-generation homeowner – a rewarding experience where we also learned new skills in construction. Raising money for Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland is an added bonus.”

Apex employees made up 6 of the 10 team members on Kristian’s Women Build team. Marketing Manager of our Clarksville branch, Julianna Reckendorf says:

“I feel so fortunate to work for a company that not only encourages, but also provides opportunities for, community involvement. Habitat for Humanity was incredibly rewarding, both physically and emotionally, and I met some wonderful women in the process!”

Kenzi Stewart, head of Apex in Action, also shared her thoughts on the experience.:

“When Kristian shared that she was participating in the Women Build event, I knew I had to be a part of it. With her blessing, I spoke with our CEO immediately and then shared the opportunity to the entire company. We received so much support from our Apex Home Loans team, and to date, the ten of us have raised over $3,800! I loved being a part of something that provides stability and support to families in need.”

Apex is always looking for ways to make a positive impact on the community. Whether it’s helping build a home for Habitat for Humanity, collecting food, books, school supplies, or coats, our drives are in place to help combat homelessness, hunger, and workforce inequality. The Apex team is constantly looking for more ways to get involved with the community and is proud to add Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build to the list this year.
