Home Sweet HoCo: Best Neighborhoods Guide, Part 2

Welcome to this week’s installment of the Home Sweet HoCo blog series! In #HomeSweetHoCo, we bring you weekly updates on everything Howard County has to offer in one place, distraction-free, cost-free, and born out of a love for the place we call home.

Last week, we gave our insight on some of the best neighborhoods in Columbia, including information on school districts, amenities, and other fun facts. This week, we’re bringing you even more neighborhoods in Howard County. So if you’re looking to buy in HoCo and don’t know where to start, look no further!

Cattail Creek

Nestled in rural Glenwood, Cattail Creek is a prestigious neighborhood overlooking the club’s golf course. Membership to the club includes access to the golf course, tennis courts, outdoor pool, and club house. While there is no village center, the neighborhood is near shopping centers.

Elementary School: Bushy Park
Middle School: Glenwood
High School: Glenelg

Emerson

Emerson is a new community located in North Laurel, an area that was recently listed among the top five places to live in the DC metropolitan area. Residents have access to a clubhouse, tennis courts, and an outdoor pool, and the community often hosts family-friendly events!

Elementary School: Gorman Crossing 
Middle School: Murray Hill
High School: Atholton

Maple Lawn

One of Howard County’s premier neighborhoods, Maple Lawn is known for its beautiful homes surrounding a center village with a variety of retailers. The neighborhood is constantly organizing community events and hosting fun family gatherings. Amenities include an outdoor pool, tennis courts, park with picnic pavilion, and more.

Elementary School: Fulton
Middle School: Lime Kiln
High School: Reservoir

Turf Valley

Located in Ellicott City, Turf Valley has it all: single-family homes situated on a golf course in a fabulous school district. A brand new village center with a grocery store, restaurants, and other shops are located nearby, and the Turf Valley Resort is at the center of the neighborhood. Residents have access to tennis courts and a pool, as well as the golf course.

Middle School: Mount View
High School: Marriotts Ridge

Waverly Woods

Situated on a golf course, homes in Waverly vary from single-family homes, to condos and townhomes. Residents have access to an outdoor pool as well as a village center with a grocery store, restaurants, and a variety of retailers.
