Top 3 Tech Trends for Realtors® this Spring

3 Tech Trends Realtors Need to Know This Spring

If you’re looking for that fresh idea to set yourself apart from your competition this Spring, maybe you’ll be inspired by our brief list of tech trends in real estate.

Rise of the Smart Home

How cool are keyless front doors, smart thermostats, and automated light switches? Apparently, they’re cool enough to affect resale value of homes. According to the Consumer Electronics Association and the National Association of Home Builders, installing smart home technology can help homeowners boost the final closing price of their home by 3 to 5 percent. For difficult listings, it may be a great opportunity to add a tech flare and wow a potential buyer.

Virtual Reality and Robots?

If you missed my previous blog, Virtual Reality: How It’s Changing Homebuying, I listed some great applications of VR technology currently on the market. This time around, I wanted to highlight another service that makes a show of VR. VirtualAPT builds robots with “customized lens solution(s) and depth sensors that can autonomously navigate and capture 360 video in any space.”

Close your eyes (not really). Imagine creating a truly unique listing experience, complete with a mini robot film director, unlike anything your client’s have ever seen. Now think about who they will tell about that experience. VR is still emerging, and the real estate industry will continue to find new, exciting ways to apply it.

Mobile Optimization Is Not an Option

Have you updated your website to be mobile friendly? Website development isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but mobile optimization should be an important piece of your digital marketing strategy. If a user cannot get your website to load on a mobile device, they are unlikely to ever return. Google and other search engines are also checking your website for mobile optimization, impacting how your site ranks in their results. A great way to combat the evolution of how people consume information online is to choose a platform that provides responsive layouts. Tools like Hubspot, Wordpress, SquareSpace, and Wix are great entry level tools for website development, and all of them feature responsive layouts that are very compatible with mobile devices.
