Location, location, location…you hear that all the time when buying a house. It’s perhaps the most important factor in your home search, so it’s pertinent to find the location best suited for you. Looking for the dream location? Look no further and find your dream home in Urbana!

About Urbana

Urbana was recently ranked #35 in the country for Time Magazine’s 2015 Best Places to Live. And it’s no wonder why: Urbana’s convenient location and small town feel combine to make it a highly coveted area. The town is easily accessible from several major highways, and it’s just 7.5 miles southeast of Frederick and 37 miles northwest of DC.

Urbana was first settled in 1730 with The Landon House used as a military academy and later a civil war hospital, so the town has plenty of history. The house still stands on the corner of Route 355 and Route 80, and is currently being renovated to the condition it was during the Civil War. Urbana is also well known for the consistent high quality ratings for the schools in the area, making it a great place raise a family! A diverse community, Urbana currently has 2 large neighborhoods: Villages of Urbana and Urbana Highlands.

Real Estate in Urbana

Both the Villages of Urbana and Urbana Highlands are served by several pools, basketball courts, playgrounds, and community parks with abundant shopping. The area also is equipped with a Giant Grocery Store, a community library, as well as several small businesses. Currently the real estate market is moving at a steady pace. In the Villages of Urbana, there are currently 38 homes for sale as of the posting of this blog. The sale prices range from $270,000 to $859,900 with the average list of $462,458. Another 31 are under contract, and 71 have sold since January 1, making this a very popular area to buy a house! Urbana Highlands is a smaller community with 8 active homes for sale, an average list price of $470,563, 5 homes under contract, and 13 homes sold since January 1. Both of these areas are highly sought after, and houses won’t last on the market for long!
