Fall is the season of comfort, and what better way to start the season than by cozying up your home? The following decoration tips are easy, cost-effective, and quick ways to bring fall into your home!

A pretty wreath is more inviting than the run-of-the-mill welcome mat, especially during the fall season! Whether it be for Halloween, Thanksgiving, or just fall in general, there are many different ways to make your own distinct decoration. Check out these blog posts on how to make a Fall Leaf Initial Wreath and a Pinecone Wreath! In a time crunch? Head over to Target, Michaels, or even Wayfair!

Paint a Pumpkin

Pumpkins, the universal fall staple, are generally always carved and displayed proudly on the front porch. While this is definitely a fun tradition for you and the kids, you can also enhance fall décor by painting pumpkins! Easily customizable, painted pumpkins can be displayed in or outside of the home. Adorn them with fun patterns, your favorite fall sayings, or keep them simple with just a coat of paint. Great places to buy pumpkins in Howard County are at Larriland Farm, Clark’s Elioak Farm, and Sharp’s at Waterford Farm. Buy all the paint, glitter, and decorating supplies you need at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Joann Fabric and Crafts!

Spruce Your Mantel

Given all you can do with them, mantels are an especially fun part of the home. They’re a place to show your own unique style by incorporating key pieces, such as mini pumpkins or leaves, with a balance of a few bigger pieces to amplify visual interest. I personally love displaying candles on the mantel with a couple of fall elements, like mini pumpkins! Head over to Twig, The Pink Cabbage, and Sweet Elizabeth Jane for some unique pieces of fall décor you can display.

Amp Up the Comfort Level

As we transition from summer to fall, most of us are spending more time snuggled up inside, so it’s the perfect time to add more pillows and blankets into your decor! Whether you want to incorporate warm fall colors or stick to neutrals, adding more comfort to your home will make it feel fall-ready. I also love to place more candles around my house to amplify coziness, especially those with spiced or warm scents! Find fun pillows, blankets, and candles at Serendipity and the River Hill Garden Center.
