Discovering MoCo: Apex Team’s Thanksgiving Traditions & Recipes

moco Thanksgiving Traditions

Welcome to the blog series dedicated to everything Montgomery County! #DiscoveringMoCo is our series featuring places to wine, dine, and have a good time.

Discovering MoCo is about more than the many places to visit and things to do. It is also about the people who live here, work here, and love the area! As a special treat, we asked the Apex Rockville team about their favorite Thanksgiving traditions this week. Since this is the time of year when we wind down, take a step back, and reflect on what makes us thankful, we hope you enjoy a glimpse into our traditions and maybe even takeaway a thing or two to enjoy your Thanksgiving celebration even more.

It Wouldn’t Be Thanksgiving Without…

It’s the little things that keep traditions alive on our day of thanks.

"We eat at night and setup a firepit outside and talk. And of course, we watch all the football games."

-Leon Davis, Post Closer

"Every year on Thanksgiving morning, my family and I run in the Turkey Trot. We've had this tradition since 2006 and this year we're running it in Tamarac, Florida."

-Craig Strent, Chief Executive Officer

It’s All About the Food

You can’t talk Thanksgiving if you’re not talking about the comfort foods that make us merry.

"Each year, Thanksgiving dinner is at my house and we cook all the traditional Thanksgiving foods. Before we eat, the kids go outside and play backyard football."

-CaroleLea Cox, Funder/Accountant

"The Saturday after Thanksgiving, my friends and I do an International Thanksgiving and everyone brings an International dish."

-Kara Palencia, Senior Processor
