Recognized as one of the Top 200 Loan Originators in America, Craig Strent has been routinely surpassing client and partner expectations since he began originating loans over 20 years ago. Craig co-founded Apex Home Loans in 1998 with the aim to create a locally-focused, independent mortgage lending service with the highest degree of customer satisfaction possible.
Craig provides the vision and focus to maximize all ongoing marketing and public relations efforts made at Apex Home Loans. He leads the company by forging strong relationships with business partners and finding innovative ways to enhance the customer experience. Craig also provides guidance and inspiration to the Apex Sales team, serves as the spokesperson for the company, and leads several community outreach initiatives within the company.
Craig is among the 1% of mortgage bankers nationwide to earn both the Certified Residential Mortgage Specialist designation as well the Certified Mortgage Planning Specialist designation. Craig has particular expertise in working with clients going through separation and divorce, and he has bolstered those abilities by undergoing both Mediation and Collaboration training.
Craig has garnered both national and local media attention for his mortgage and housing market expertise. He has provided commentary on NBC Nightly News, CNBC, News Channel 8, and Fox Morning News. Craig is regularly interviewed as a subject matter expert, and his writing has appeared in several notable publications. His Op-ed, “Now is the time to buy a house,” was a featured article in the Washington Business Journal.
Craig has been awarded Most Engaged Small Business Person and Ambassador of the Year by the Greater Washington Board of Trade (GWBOT), where he has been an active member for several years. His commitment to the local business community has led him to undertake several leadership roles at the GWBOT, including service on the Board of Directors, a co-chair position on the Membership Committee, and a coordinating role in the Ambassador Network.
Craig was selected for the elite 40 Under 40 award, Washington Business Journal’s annual recognition of the DC area’s brightest emerging business leaders. His passion for advancing his leadership journey also spurred his participation in and graduation from Leadership Greater Washington, where he now sits on the Board of Directors as Chair. Craig is also an active member of the Economic Club of Washington, DC.
Craig earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the American University’s Kogod School of Business Administration and resides in Bethesda, MD with his wife, Amy, and sons, Sammy & Ollie. In his free time, Craig is an avid roller hockey player, runner, traveler, and history buff.
